In 2018, Senator Toomey authored or co-authored a number of measures that have been signed into law.

• The Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment (SUPPORT) for Patients and Communities Act contained four provisions authored or co-authored by Senator Toomey:
 Encouraging Appropriate Prescribing for Victims of Overdose in Medicare Act
 Strengthening Partnerships to Prevent Opioid Abuse Act
 Every Prescription Conveyed Securely Act (S. 2460)
 Commit to Opioid Medical Prescriber Accountability and Safety for Seniors (COMPASS) Act

• The First Step Act included the Lieutenant Osvaldo Albarati Correctional Officer Self-Protection Act, requiring the federal Bureau of Prisons (BoP) to provide a safe means for federal correctional officers to store their personal firearms while at work – either in a central storage area located at the prison or in a BoP-approved vehicle lockbox.

• The FAA Reauthorization legislation included Toomey-led measure requiring new commercial aircraft to have a ‘secondary’ barrier, strengthening safety requirements established after September 11, 2001.

• The Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act allows victims to seek appropriate compensation from any criminal who has possessed or distributed their images, and restitution up to the full amount of the victim’s losses from any criminal who produced the images, signed into law.

Senator Toomey led the effort to repeal an improper regulation produced by the Obama-era Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) governing “indirect auto lending” and wrote a letter prompting the Government Accountability Office to review the 232 tariff exclusion process.

In addition to his work in Washington D.C., the office of Senator Toomey organized and co-hosted two Youth Civic Engagement Symposiums in the Lehigh Valley and Erie. Senator Toomey hosted a number of pinning ceremonies for both Vietnam War veterans and Korean War veterans across the state.

In May, Senator Toomey chaired a Senate Finance Committee Subcommittee on Health Care field hearing regarding the overutilization and misuse of opioids.

Additionally, Senator Toomey led the effort in the Senate to rename three Post Offices in Pennsylvania to honor Staff Sergeant Ryan Scott Ostrom, Staff Sergeant Peter Taub, and Canonsburg Police Officer Scott Bashioum.
